  1. Larson says:

Yeah… and PCs are real simple… you’ve got to be kidding me. Computers as a whole have huuuuuuuge problems. Macs just cost too much, nothing runs on mac, and you can’t work on it yourself. Windows bites though, I’ve been using it for so long, and its always had serious problems. Computers are ment to drive people crazy, thats just how it is. But I’d rather get a free mac then a free pc.

  2. Josh says:

I understand we have similar domain names and website names, but try not to copy us completely and post the same videos. We posted this over a month ago.

  3. Anonymous says:

Great video, very entertaning, well done

  4. A-For-C says:

Copy you? I’m sorry…did you guys uhhh, “create” this Mac video? Oh wait, you didn’t? Maybe you should go back to shutting the fuck up then and being less of a douchebag hypocrite.

On topic…what this video is basically saying is…Macs have a different OS than PCs. How profoundly funny!

  5. Bill says:

What a load of crap. Misinformation. I work on Macs at home (by choice) and PCs at the office (by duress). The difference between a Mac and a PC is the same difference between a Mercedez and a Yugo… quality.

I find it especially ridiculous that this guy implies that one does not have “catastrophic failures” and the like on a PC. It happens all too often and to add insult to injury the freaking PCs have to tell you what kind of error occurred and where it occurred i.e., “a page fault occurred in Sector 12: ieexhkioiusid8989sf”. What kind of shit is that?! I would rather the program just quit (as it does on Macs only on very rare occasions compared to PCs) than give me some jibberish like this (as if one could just climb down into “Sector 12″ and fix it with a screwdriver). Give me a break! FUCK BILL GATES. Lying sack of shit. Oooh Vista… “Gadgets”?!?!? You got to be kidding me.

  6. You are an idiot says:

What, did Gates pay you to make this? Totally bogus information here. Totally. Macs are so far superior to PCs. They need to make a new word for how superior they are. You, my idiot, are an idiot.

  7. Andrew says:

funny video lol, i love it,

but i was reading the other comments and

Ummmm, is there something i’m missing, maybe its because i’m australian, but macs DO suck, there slower more unstable, and much much harder to upgrade and or fix hardware, siunce when has everyone grown a vagina and started loving them,

i’m sorry if i missed the memo, but macs were for grandmas were i am,

but please tell me why i’m wrong, i know u will

  8. Macs Do Suck... says:

I love to see how defensive Mac users/enthusiasts get when someone rips on them. Wait, is there some other reason that Windows holds 90% of the business market, now some 17 years after its creation? Yeah, PCs suck too, but you don’t see people getting all worked up over the ads that poke fun at the PC.

Oh yeah, and what do you say for the momentous occurance of making the Apple/Mac OS run on Intel processors? Apple has finally learned from its biggest rival and is now moving to be solely a software company. Pretty soon, we will be able to buy Dell PCs with Mac OS. What will you bitch about then?

I have a gay cousin, him and his friends all hang out at Starbucks and download iTunes on their Macbooks. Me, I have fun laughing at them, and people who leave overly-emotional comments about the superiority of an OS. Bill, buddy, YOU have got to be kidding YOURSELF.

    In Gates we trust.

  9. Bill says:

Hmmm… why are you wrong? It could be alot of things. Perhaps you were abused as a child and taught that Bill Gates is God by some unloving pair of Microsoft stockholder parents? Maybe parting ways with the PC world if just too scary for someone who has been through such intense trauma. It is only speculation on my part but my guess is that you have simply been listening to the mob mentality of most PC users and you have never kept an open mind long enough to give it an honest try. Again, I work on both machines and it is clear to me that “stability” is something PC users only dream about while Mac users simply enjoy life free of viruses, crashes and other hellish predicaments.

  10. Lordfool says:

Man, you’d think that Macs are made by the hand of God, and
all who ridicule are blasphemers and hellbound sinners! Seriously,
quit being fucking pussies, and take your lumps, you fucking Mac
humpers. Macs are great machines, but they fuck up just like PCs.
Its a GUT BUSTING video, so shut the hell up and quit being so
fucking sensitive, ya tree hugging hippies!

  11. Pat says:

I’ve always felt that the low-stability stigma of Windows comes from windows 98, not XP. In my experience, XP has never really given me any trouble at all. I’ve had more crashes on the Macs at school then on my laptop at home. Mac fans also usually exclude the following facts: 1. No games of any worth run on a Mac, and 2. PCs are far, far cheaper. It’s like driving around a BMW and wondering why the hell no one else does because BMWs are superior cars. People probably would if they could, but they don’t feel like spending the extra money/time.

  12. Craton says:

    How funny.

I can’t really agree with any of it though. In fact, replace every “Mac” with “PC” and “PC” with “Mac” and the pros and cons start to fit.

  13. Tillennium says:

    One Word: Linux *eg*

  14. LemmingLord says:

As a long-time Mac user, I can still find this video amusing without feeling like someone has just violated by my beliefs. Grow a pair and stop whining, you assholes.

    Very funny video. Loved it.

  15. The Trekkie says:

I agree - Macs suck. I’ve used them several times and I just can’t get used to them. I hate it when programs do just close on me, and I hate the organization of the system if you actually want to do something. I’d prefer that a program told me what was wrong, as this allows me to fix the problem or properly forward the information to someone who can fix it. I also hate the closed system of macs - want more RAM? How about a new processor? Well, you need a new computer. On my PC, I can just open the case, pop the old part out, and a new one in (and it’s about as easy as stacking blocks, it’s not fucking rocket science).

And no, I’m not a Bill Gates-loving person; I use Linux.

  16. DarqueWing says:

If you get a great game for your PC that requires a better graphics card… you can get a better graphics card and have it installed in less time than it takes to get to the store and back. And if you’re on a Mac and you have a great game that requires a hardware upgrade, you have to get a new computer - a PC, that is. (Wait, games on a Mac? You did realize that was a hypothetical question at that point, right?) At least with Windows, you can always find a command prompt and get things done with the old C:> prompt. And don’t give me this crap about “you can do anything on a Mac that you can do with a PC.” How about… right-click? Nope, can’t do that. Seriously, if I can do everything on a Mac that I could do on a PC, why the hell would I need a Mac, since I already have a PC - a computer that runs whatever software I need, links up with whatever peripherals I need, and doesn’t leave me feeling like I’m playing with something from a six-year-old’s toy box. Hey, if you’re doing photo or video editing, that’s all good. I do neither, so I have a real computer.

  17. Bill says:

dude… get with the program. you are talking out of your ass! I right click on my mac every day! check your facts! if you want to play games just get an xbox360 like I did… that is the one thing MS got right. lastly, yes you can do everything you can do on a PC and more! that is the point dumbass.

  18. Kayos says:

Ok, Macs suck, you CANNOT do everything a PC can do on a mac, as people have been saying, I am not going to go through the list because it’s huge but for an example, as people have been saying, YOU CAN’T PLAY ANY GAMES THAT ARE WORTH ANYTHING ON A MAC. Nor can you run any Windows programs or any other programs other than Mac programs. I would like to remind you that since the majority of the world uses PC logically that means the majority of the programs in the world DON’T RUN ON A MAC! And no Windows sucks too, but Mac is worse, maybe good for artsy people that that’s all they have a computer for but, for everything else, not so much. Also, just because people say they use Windows, THAT DOESN’T MEAN THEY LIKE BILL GATES, most of us know hes a lying guy and whatnot, and most of us know all the wrongs about Windows. That’s why when someone makes a joke about Windows, you don’t see us getting riled up about it! For fucks sake, all you Mac lovers make me sick.

  19. Kayos says:

    a

  20. Bill says:

kayos! chill dude. it isn’t that big of a deal. I would like to tell you, however, that you, like so many head in the sand pc lovers, you CAN run windows xp on a mac. that is a fact, jack. you should really do a little research before you speak out with more misinformation. it destroys your credibility. by the way, I am a businessman.. not an artist. I use both machines regularly. pc at office (by company duress) and mac at home (by choice). why? my connection to our ms exchange server is infinitely more stable than my pc at the office (and it is a top of the line Dell)!! in the end, you do what you want, man. I don’t really give a crap. to each his own but you really shouldn’t knock it until you try it.

  21. Greg says:

I’m amazed no one has realized how hypocritical they’re being, both Mac and PC users alike. “Oh we don’t get all riled up, our OS is the best, I worship the CEO of the company I support”, regardless of who says what its still inane bullshit. Maybe if you just accepted that all computers, OS’s and basically every fucking thing in existence has both pros and cons you could stop arguing about this shit and get an actual life. Maybe that’s too hard for all of you, at least start by being a bit more open minded and not resorting to stereotypes and idiotic comments that don’t really get you anywhere. There’s at least two or three other people that have commented on this that don’t get all butt-hurt when someone disses their precious PC or Mac, thank you people. As for the rest of you, pick your battles, you’ll live longer.

  22. Pah says:

    “…the same difference between a Mercedez and a Yugo…”

Sorry to grab such a minor point, but this just made me laugh. Is Mercedez a knockoff of Mercedes? Like the Nolex watch?

  23. Yvonne says:

I didn’t hear anything in the video about “PC’s are better than Macs.” This guy is just venting HIS frustrations with HIS Mac. Your experience may differ. Those of you getting a upset and dramatic over which is better, PC’s or Macs, take a good listen to yourself. Is it really THAT big of a deal? People have different interests, different experiences, no reason to get all upset at some guy sitting at a different computer hundreds of miles away that you will never meet. What silly people you all are.

  24. Henry says:

To clear up confusion, Mac programs ARE more stable, because they are set to run on Mac hardware… With PC software, it has to be able to run on a bazillion frankensteined hardware setups, but Mac just has to run on Mac hardware, so the developers can spend more time fixing problems and get it done rather than having to patch by patch by patch. And some of these problems are actually… PC problems.

  25. Mallory says:

god guys calm down this is supposed to be funny. stop arguing. i’m only in seventh grade and you guys are like third graders fighting over the best brand of crayons

  26. Chuckie says:

Oh, man, I love this guy. “The update manager is bouncing at the bottom of the screen like a jack russell fucking terrier!” I may not really like macs but man, sometimes I wish I had enough money so I could boot my PC like he does with that monitor.

  27. U R So Gay says:

You just don’t understand how to use and configure your mac. Go and buy a PC. They are designed for idiots

  28. NooB says:

Windows has it’s flaws, Mac has it’s flaws, Linux has it’s flaws…

    Put real simple:
See which OS suits your needs and use that one.

Also, how can people think this movie is just made with the purpose of saying “Mac sucks, PC’s are way better”, like some of the comments I read here. Like Yvonne says, the creator only vents his frustration about his Mac.

  29. A zombie says:

    i just like computers
and from the looks of it…..all you people do too!
cant we all just get along?

  30. Zach says:

you people have no sense of humor.

  31. Zach says:

sorry, I was reffering to the people commenting on the video. The video itselfs was rad. I like how he beats the shit out of the Macs.

  32. IDIOTS says:

For some profound reason, whenever someone buys a Mac, they hate Microsoft and Bill Gates. Then they bang their head on their keyboard to comment a Macs suck video. Get your fat ass off of that Macintosh and take a bike ride Junior. You can’t sit around all day.

  33. Tom says:

    Excellent video and very true!

BTW - I have used both Macs and PCs for years both as a user, and as an IT support manager. I have a new iMac at home (as well as a PC laptop) and I support both on a daily basis in a large office environment. I would have to say that these days Macs are actually far less reliable than PCs running XP. They crash alot and constantly require maintenance to keep them going. They are overpriced and can’t do anything more than a similarly priced PC can do in todays environment (unless you are talking music production, but thats only because Apple bought out the top software packages and stopped making them for PC platforms).

That said - I can’t believe how much Microsoft has copied Mac OS with Vista! Talk about taking the piss!

    Mac users - lighten up!

    I reckon you’ll all enjoy this — http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/story/0,,2006031,00.html

  34. Duck Dodgers says:

U R So Gay, the commercials tell us you don’t have to configure a Mac. It just works.

  35. Linux wannabe says:

    arguing on the internet

  36. who cares says:

who cares what pc or mac fans say, just because one person says the pc sucks doesn’t mean that anyone who reads it will change there opinion of the pc and vise versa. just respect their opinion even if you don’t agree with it.

  37. who cares says:

by the way I thought this was funny http://blogs.siliconvalley.com/photos/uncategorized/imapcandimarmed.jpg

  38. dolph says:

    what a bunch of lies.

  39. wtf? says:

You all realize that this video was made like 5 or 6 years ago? It was also completely made up to be funny, and sensationalized…. it wasnt about truth at all.

  40. john botirius says:

fuck this, the opnly reason u dont like windows is ur an idiot!! the only reason u dont understand the error massage is ur an idiot! my pc has crashed once in the 2 years ive owned it. the only reason urs will crash is ur a fucking moron!!! go get a computers for dummies book, if u can read…

  41. john botirius says:

i also understand how u might just prefer to use a mac. thats ur opinion… but when the mac commercials say that u can edit ur vacation photos on it… cmon, what kinda fuckin idiot do u have to be to believe that u cant do that on a pc. u wont catch me dead on a mac. i do, hoever like apple (although like everything else still crashes from time to time) i own an ipod and i love it. im not closed minded… just pissed off at mac…

  42. Tony says:

That’s hilarious. I like it when he kicked the computer and it just fell apart.

  43. Bill says:

john: I find it interesting that you are so offended and “pissed off” by Mac’s advertising campaign yet you say nothing of Bill Gates’ many misrepresentations. It is just advertising, man. Get over it. you “wouldn’t be caught dead on a Mac” sounds like you have a prejudice that has nothing to do with whether a Mac is actually a great machine.

  44. Kevin Collett says:

    Linux owns all. Stop bitching.

  45. LvL-1201 says:

I just dont get it when people says macs are far superior form PC’s…

    Did anyone said Alienware?!

    THAT is superior….

  46. Nick says:

Macs suck. PC’s suck. Computer technology came out like a little more than 20 years ago so obviously with a whole new technology theres going to be crap to work out. People don’t need to get steamed and proclaim how “awesome” their computer that they use is. The fact is that it might be awesome for you, but other people have other opinions, and you should respect that instead of yelling at them. Also I’ve seen a few of those mac commercials and they come across to me as “If your mental capacity isn’t high enough to configure a computer or call someone to do so for you, then get a mac! and look! it comes with a camera. ooh! Thats just what I get from them. also the only reason apple has money for those commercials is because of all those PC users purchasing ITunes. =/ I’m not saying PC is better, just that more people own PC’s than Macs.

  47. Derek says:

I loved the video . . . (cue Church organ music dramatic and loud)

(Cue minister’s voice . . . Accent Like Harry Connick’s “The REV” from the movie Independence day”

We are gathered here together to share the worship of the PC in the Church of the Internet that welcomes all denominations to our fold who gather here daily in their righteous life of daily confirmation of our belief in the the supreme PC (PC=Personal Computer, Apple makes them too)

We have gather together with our brothers and sisters from the Church of Apple, our brothers and sisters from the Church of Microsoft, and our brothers and sisters from the Church of Linux to gather in mutual peace and harmony and to worship our one true God, our PCs.

Brothers and sisters, do not go out into the light! For there you will find evil life, and sunlight!

I have a dream! That one day, all OS’s will unite in a virtual world and deny the evil real world of human interaction and living.

I have a dream that sectarian bickering and the true brotherhood of the the Church of the Internet will unite all our brothers and sisters in the endless dialogue and freedom that the virtual world provides.

Brothers and sisters we can treat all encounters as less than human, and not fear reprisals from the real world in our anonymity.

We can treat with contempt all who have a real life, and do not share our belief in the all powerful and mighty Internet!

Because they cannot hit us, find us, or know who we truly are . . . WE ARE FREE!

Free to post, to condemn, to quote the great books of our codes and and manufacturing.

Yea though we must sometimes walk through the valley of reality, we WILL fear no evil, for in virtuality there is the freedom of no consequences for our words and actions!

The meekest and least of you can gird thyselves in rhetoric, and never have to produce anything yourselves, for no one can find you and discover you actually flip hamburgers at the Local McDonalds in the evil real world.

But I dream of a day, when we all unite, and value the diversity of our fellow PCrs, regardless of the color of their OS or its trademark.

    I have a dream!

That one day we will unite, and realize the worth of our natural denominations and cease these petty battles and claims of our superiority. That one day we will realize that all are present in the Church of the Internet, and it matters not how they got here!

That all are here to worship the almighty PC is all that matters regardless of how your OS got you here, or the ministers of hate that divide us.

For verily I say unto you! If you do not unite, you surely will have to go out into the sunlight, and get a real life.

I do not care about the color of a PCs skin! As long as you follow the truth of the Church of the Internet, you will be saved!

Your OS is only a path, one of many, leading you here to the freedom of the light of the One true Internet.

Regardless of your path, your self indignant righteousness, if you got here, it is good.

Be not overly proud of the vehicle of your choice to arrive at the true path.

If it got you here it is good, and it works.

    Amen.

  48. Intellihence says:

This guy is pathetic . This video just goes to show how stupid this guy is . I’ve never had any of the issues this guy has had with his Macintosh . In fact I never had an issue with my Macintosh , it’s so cool opening up virus laden e-mails that won’t affect my machine . Maybe it’s not the Macintosh , maybe it’s a user error , his error . Go back to using your Pee-Cee , you’re better off using inferior hardware/system . You are definitely off base with this commercial . Try going to www.zdnet.com and see why Microsoft is being sued for 1.5 billion dollars by Alcatel/Lucent , or you can also find out about the zero day exploit for Microsoft Office 2007 , etc,,, Seriously , why live in the darkness with Pee-Cee’s when you can live in the LIMELIGHT with a Macintosh . I’ve already tried Windows XP and it is inferior , I let my kids have it so they can play games with it . It was the only purpose I could think of . Pee-Cee’s and Windows are toys .

    Sincerely
    Intellihence

“In a world without walls and fences , who needs windows and gates.”

  49. suppish guy says:

    Intellihence:

Your just a dumb fuck mac geek piece of shit.
Want to see some real hardware?!
    Some superior shit?

    Alien Ware

Now crawl back to your hole you call home…

  50. Kosh says:

At least Microsoft doesn’t charge for . releases. You buy OSX, then pay for Jaguar, then pay for Panthro, then pay for Lion-o… Who really wants to pay $129.00 for Dashboard?

I can rant all day about what sucks about macs, and probablly just as long as what sucks about pc’s. And when did it start that PC users worship bill gates?

I use a Mac Pro 2x 3GHz intel xeon at work and I bring my Alienware 2.41 GHz AMD 64 laptop in for whenever I get fed up with the Mac getting laggy as hell in Photoshop CS2.

I dont think either is easier to use, they are both pretty simple, but I would go with PC for the software and hardware upgrades.

Anyone seen the mac vs pc vids at truenuff.com? http://tv.truenuff.com/mac/

They don’t favor either side, just the inane bitching that goes on between pc geeks and mac enthusiasts.

  51. Some cockend says:

Lol. I swear - Some people really need to get a life. NEWSFLASH: Nobody gives a fuck. Macs are shit - Thats why Microsoft hold a 90% or so market share. Now shut up and go do something productive, like install Linux.

  52. British Mac Head says:

Seems like the only real gripe that these windose zealots are squirting against macs is that they don’t tell yoy what’s wrong… Well you are WRONG!!! There is a crash log on the mac that tells you everything right down to what processes were running when the app crashed. Now if a programmer can be arsed he can get his app to report back on a Mac (with you, the user’s permission) and email the crash log entry together with a text field for you to type what you were doing when it happened. There is something that is included in the developer tools that you get with a Mac called the crash reporter that has preferences that can be set to either BASIC, Developer and Server modes to give different levels of info. Now this idiot that seems to think that an Application crashing is something to do with them using a Mac. Well that’s utter bollocks. If a programmer develops software with bugs that either cause a memory leak or a bug which allows one processing cycle to overwrite another active memory block then that sort of thing causes apps to crash. Bad programming on the part of the developer of the App. Not Apple!!! I would far sooner an app with a memory leak crash itself than for it to consume all available RAM and eventually crash the OS. On the extremely remote occasion when a Mac crashes OS X it’s called a Kernel Panic and I have had three in five years and I am on my Macs 6 days a week for around 10 hours a day working. Once was down to a bad RAM module which I replaced. I can’t remember the other two reasons. I run around 20 full apps at a time including Photoshop. Illustrator, Safari, Firefox, the terminal, Several programming environments and text editors like textmate, textwrangler etc. Email, irc chat client, CSS analysis tools, Logged into 2 linux servers over SSH etc.

So Windows has a few more games. Well if you’re that bothered about being non-productive you can always run windows on a Mac as a guest OS over either Boot Camp or Parallels. I test sites in IE over parallels. Then once a worm or virus eats your windows OS you can use the backup (if you made one as it’s only a big file) in about 2 mins. Try doing that on a standard PC with Windoze XP as the primary OS.

I have no issues with Linux users. I have two web servers on two networks running Linux. It’s a great server OS but there’s not much commercial software support. (Photoshop etc)

To the idiot that says that windows is better than Mac OS X because of the huge market share. Well if that were a good form of proof then we would all be driving porsches, ferraris beamers and rollers but most choose a cheap and cheerful car like a ford or a VW. Doesn’t make them great. Good? Maybe, but not great.

People bought Windows originally because it was a cheap copy of a Mac operating system poorly implimented but they could use their old PC. Developers saw dollar signs and began supporting it too. So that built up momentum. Apple made mistakes in the early years that kept the Mac expensive but not nowadays. Apple doesn’t want the cheap PC market. the bargain boxes. There’s no real margin in it. Over 9000 people a day switch from Win to Mac. You may say that in the grand scheme of things it’s not many compared to the over a billion people that have Windows. Well MS don’t make as much money on Windows as Apple make on each Mac sold. Apple are doing much better from a stock value standpoint over the last 4 years than MS. HP, Dell and any other PC maker. You don’t believe me then check all of the online stock systems like Yahoo finance, google finance etc. Why do you think Eric Schmidt (Google CEO) was so excited to get on Apple’s board. Google and Apple will slowly strangle MS. In fact it’s happening already. Apple’s market share has gone up 2% in the last 6 months. There is over 100% growth there with Apple year on year. MS is flatlining and slowly losing share. Dell is dropping rapidly. Why do you think Michael Dell wants to license Mac OS X on his cheap crappy boxes.

Read it and weep Wind’ohs Zealots.

The writing is on the wall.

  53. British Mac Head says:

Kosh, You’re so misinformed. The reason that CS2 is laggy on the Mac pro is because Adobe were too slow in converting it to work on Mac Intel boxes. It’s still PPC native. It’s running on an intel convertion software layer called Rosetta. It’s basically a PPC emulator. As the Mac OS is so good it just works. No human intervention necessary. PS is a memory hog by nature. Once CS3 comes out at the end of the month and you get it on your Mac Pro then your alienware will be laggy compared. Believe me.

Also OS X 10.4 tiger has 64bit support on the BSD layer only so it crunches numbers great on a 64bit machine but the rest is 32bit so screen redraws are slow. Once leopard comes out the Mac can run 64bit and 32bit native and PPC and intel native all from the same binary. Vista doesn’t have that.

So with Leopard and CS3 on the Mac pro the alienware will be a bag of shite.

Oh and forget about animation on the PC once Leopard is released with it’s new core animation and developers take advantage of it. Well put it this way. you can program a typical animation with 10% of the original code needed now on Open GL. Think of the games and graphics packages that will come out on the Mac compared to the stuff you run on your PC’s now.

  54. British Mac Head says:

Tom, You seem sincere when you say you think that Macs need maintenance. Well I really can’t understand that. Sorry but it’s strange. I have 6 macs om a 100 base T (and 802.11g) network and besides the occasional bad hard drive or stick of RAM I have had pretty much no need to maintain my Macs. I do however have to maintain my single install of XP regularly. Virus def updates, Anti spyware, HD defragging, etc.

I have had Macs for 13 years and with OS 7 - 9 we had to defrag hard drives occasionally and sometimes we had extension conflicts that we had to sort out and SCSI chains were sometimes badly terminated but since OS X and especially since 10.2 and the last 6 years since Macs have had firewire and USB 1 and 2 as standard I have had no requirements for maintenance. Except or one hard drive that went down. (they do wear out eventually you know).

Maybe you have a bad one off the production line or you are using cheap memory or something. Sorry but I really can’t see where you are coming from. please be specific an please don’t exaggerate. I support many customers Windows boxes with the business ISP I own and run and they are always ringing me with issues. Usually they are IE or Outlook related. Sometimes they have been taken down by a virus. They hear about my virtually trouble free Mac exprience and they are flabbergasted.

  55. short7cents says:

Macs are great!!! Paper-weights. Let’s see, how can we take the simplest of tasks, and make them nearly impossible to accomplish, adding in as many unnecessary mundane operations as we can in the process, make available MAYBE 10% of the software available that’s available for PC’s, next to none of the hardware, and package it in a pretty neon case and sell it for way more then it is worth, there’s gotta be a sucker or two out there who will buy one, because it looks cool and it’s NOT a PC. Hey, let’s rename it, we could call it the iSore, or the iSuck, or the iDon’twork, or the……….Yes, there are problems with PC’s, usually operator originated, by people trying to push an under-powered archaic machine far past it’s original limits, or by somebody that went in and screwed around with things they shouldn’t have or let it get infected to the point it doesn’t work anymore because they were too lazy to clean it up now and then. I painfully, yes, painfully invested in a GOOD computer, built far beyond what I really needed, and I have next to no problems with it using it an average of 8 - 10 hours a day for games, graphics ect. On the flip side, when I have used my sister’s shiny new Mac, it was a total headache, nothing is cut and dried or simple, and the whole system is over-fancified (is that a word?), when they could learn alot from K.I.S.S, keep it simple stupid, and make the system operational instead of shiny. But that’s just my simple opinion, and I don’t count anyways. ;)

  56. British Mac Head says:

    @short7cents
I have to say that you just said nothing. No specifics, nothing. That is actually typical of Windoze zealots. Well if you swap the words “PC’s with “Macs” in your posting it would make some sense. You say archaic. Well it’s M$ that are obsessed with backwards compatibility to the point where they have spliced so much old code into each and every iteration of their OS’s that it has become a security nightmare. Try taking your virus checker and firewall down for 30 mins while surfing the web. Due to Backwards compatibility, Wind’ohs is one archaic OS.

I guess the only reason you found using a Mac harder is because you are used to using a PC. Try driving in England or Australia in a right hand drive car for a while for the first time. It takes a bit of getting accustomed too.

Also you said that Windows keeps it simple and Macs are complicated. Well maybe in a weird alternative dimension where cats chase dogs and the sky is green.

Macs are far simpler to use. Example: Since day 1 (1st April 1984) Virtually all Mac Apps have the same basic hot-key combinations. Took Windows developers years to match theirs up and some still don’t. How about “Yes/No/Cancel” Dialogue boxes on Windows. Means you have to read them carefully and if you are in a rush you can still press Yes when you really needed to press No. Example: “Save or keep original - If you want to keep the original version of your image and not overwrite it press NO otherwise press YES to save the newer version over it.” OK. I made that up because I couldn’t be bothered to boot the PC up and try to find a dialogue box that was similar but they are just like that on Windows. How many would skim read it and realise they wanted to keep their original but pressed Yes anyway as they imagined that’s what it meant. We naturally skim read dialogue boxes when under pressure for time. On a Mac a typical Mac Dialogue box would be”Save - “Do you wish to keep your original or save the new version over it?” And the buttons would say “Cancel/Save/Keep original”.

If I had time I would look for some real ones but you get the idea.

Also you plug a mouse in on a Mac and the thing just works. You plug one in on a Windows box and you get a message saying you plugged a mouse in. What’s the point? You know you plugged it in. If it works then it works if it doesn’t then it’s broken. Also Installing software on a Mac usually involves just dragging an icon from a disk image or CD to an Applications folder unless you have to install a new library item Then you have an installer. Preferences are held in a preferences folder and they are individual to the applications. On Windows it is a whole other story. You have the ugly install sheild thing that puts DLL’s and ini files and other schizz all over your system. It then puts entries in the registry. If the registry goes corrupt you have to be a brain surgeon to fix it and if you can’t fix it your drive will need formatting. Re-install Windows and install all of your Apps again. If you can find the serial numbers.

Short7cents. Unless you can give me real examples as to why you think that Mac OS X is archaic and complicated compared to Windows then don’t bother writing anything. And remember. Don’t lie. If you have to lie then you loose. Simple as that!!!

  57. short7cents says:

British Big Mac Head— Are you…. Are you crying?? lol, What passion, what emotion, I am truly impressed, although you did get mighty confused, obviously read what I wrote too fast and remembered less then 1% of it, but then again, you use a Mac, so I don’t expect you to be all that bright. Sorry I stepped on your little piggies there. Have a better day. :)

  58. Chuckie says:

    @British Mac Head
actually i like it when windows tells me when i plug in/take out a mouse, etc. that way, if the mouse doesnt respond right away, im not waiting thinking that its eventually goin to be recognized if there’s some problem with it. it helps me know whats goin on in my computer (though it sounds like vista could be a headache with all its confirmation boxes and such).

a few times when i’ve ejected my flash drive from a mac, the image of the drive went away so i thought it was ok to pull the thing out. the os then told me i had improperly taken out my flash drive. granted it didnt hurt anything, and i now wait a tad longer to pull out my drive, but thats why i like knowin when a computer recognizes something thats plugged in/taken out of it

  59. Ben says:

I gave up after a few comments because people get so emotional about this crap. I just want to point out that there is no such thing as an “executable” per say on a mac. “.exe” is completely a pc thing. Also, you DEFINITELY can do everything on a mac that you can do on a pc. There’s a little something called Boot Camp. It alllows you to install windows on your mac. And from there, you get the point. The reason macs cost more is because you get more. You get a lot of programs with your mac that cost a lot of money. Somebody said it best with the BMW analogy. As for things crashing, yeah I’ve had that happen a few times, BUT someone wanted to be able to “send it to someone who can fix it.” Well, actaully, when a program DOES crash, it pops up with a box that give you the option to send the problem to Apple programmers. I have to imagine that if this guy’s mac was crashing so much that he made a video about it, that it had something to do with the fact that he did not click on the “annoying” software update icon. Software update is simple and easy to use, and yet so many people think it’s going to be hard so they dont do it. And as for drag and drop, uummmmmmmm……. I remember having the problem with dragging only making shortcuts when I was using a pc, but I’ve never had that problem with my mac. I think people should definitely try a mac out before they bash it. Use it for a couple days. And to all you mac bashers, if macs suck so much, then why is microsoft copying off them too little too late with Vista? All your fun new things you will be able to do with Vista are straight up copies of already existing mac software. So, everybody needs to get their facts straight before arguing so damn heatedly.

  60. kosh says:

brit mac…what do you mean misinformed? i’m not asking anyone if CS2 gets laggy, i’m experiencing it first hand. I try to nudge something over 1 px and i get that gay pinwheel spinning for 5 minutes, go get some coffee, come back, and its still spinning. It was the same way with my old G5 running CS2 so you cant say it is just a Intel processor issue. I’m looking forward to running CS3 on both mac and pc since you tried to tear down my alienware. I think the competition between mac and pc is great since it fuels technology being pushed further. Please dont say i’m wrong for saying things that I have experienced using a mac.

The reason most PCs suck is because a lot of people dont give a shit and just want to get on AOL and email pictures of their kids. Most people dont want to spend 3k~ on a computer which is what you need to spend to get a really good mac or a really good pc.

What really pisses me off about mac is their advertising campaign. The latest advert about people having to upgrade their pcs to run vista is a joke. every OS has minimum system requirements and if you got your mac or your pc even a year ago chances are there will be some upgrades you will need to make to run either OS. Those commercials pray on ignorant pc users and ignorant mac users. its funny how many times my mac friends try to rip on pcs with that shit they get from the commercials.

This comment is for Ben. for those things that vista is borrowing, stealing, copying from OS whatever… who cares? how much time does anyone spend using any of the software bundled with their os? If i ever upgrade to vista i’m sure I wont ever use its photo editing software. I wont ever use its video editing software. I wont use any of that crap, nor do I use any of it on a mac because there are hundreds of other programs out there that are better. so keep bundling that crap in both os’s and i’ll keep finding software that does it better.

  61. john botirius says:

hey bill: the only reason you wouldnt catch me dead on a mac is that i hate the way macs run, i just dont like the os. but as i said you might, and i dont care. i just hate false advertising

  62. short7cents says:

For many years Apple donated thousands upon thousands of computers to schools, countless computers. Out of the kindness of their hearts? To enrich the minds of America’s children? Simple generosity? No. They donated them, in the simple, yet brilliant hope that all those kids would go home and tell their parents what kind of computer they used in school, so these parents would then go buy them the same kind of computer they had at school to have at home, it simply made sense. Let’s see, we give 30 computers to this school, over the next 5 years several thousand students will use them, so odds are several hundred parents will be buying our computer. Now, decades later, Macs still hold a miniscule portion of the market. Hmmmmmm….. I wonder why that is. A brilliant marketing campaign, bright flashy shiny computers, and still they are at the very bottom of the food chain. Why, because they simply are not the best value for the money. Somebody said that Macs cost more because they come with more. Well, guess what, they might, and you can buy a Mac and get more, and pay for things that you get for FREE when you pay less for a PC. There is nothing on a Mac that you pay high dollars for, that you can’t get in freeware for a PC, and there is only a small fraction of the freeware available for macs that there is for PC’s. I tried to send my nephew a simple pic over AIM to him and his Mac couldn’t handle it, I ended up emailing it to him so he could look at it at school. How convienant is that? Yes, there are a few things that Mac’s are good at, but it is nowhere even close of a comparison for the average consumer to even consider buying a Mac over a PC. Mac’s are good for school, college, but then you grow up and graduate…to a PC. ;) Oh, and British Big Mac Head, I never said there was anything archaic about Mac’s.

  63. Phillip says:

Why are macs simplified? Because they’re made for people that have a hard time controlling complexity. Why does the mouse have 1 button, because it’s easier. Why can’t you open the case and change components, because what person would ever want to do that on their own with no knowledge of computers. Macs are made for those who don’t want to deal with the trouble and frustration of electronics, and lets face it, all technology is buggy regardless of the make. The number one goal of a mac design is stability and simplicity which explains why they’re stable compared to a PC. (btw this video doesn’t mention the word PC once). The fact is they’re aimed at two different markets and comparing them is like comparing different perscription drugs. So why bother.

  64. Ben says:

Kosh, I wasn’t talking about photo or video editing software, more about things like widgets. Also, Macs come with a video camera on them and the camera is already installed and working with the mac AIM client. I bought my girlfriend a camera for her pc because she goes to school 200 miles away and it was a Microsoft camera and the damn thing wouldnt work. All she could do was take videos and even then the sound was laggy. So, I had her return it and get one that specifically said on the website and the box that it worked with AIM. Guess what, it didnt. What most people have in mind when they claim their mac’s superiority is a world where everyone uses a mac. Then everything would be much more simple. I like my mac. I love how I can communicate with other macs easily. my roommate has a dell laptop and always needs to use my printer. I would rather he not use my computer all the time, so I tried to set up the printer as a network printer. This is a nice feature that Macs have. However, since his was not a mac, it wanted the printer to be connected and the drivers to be installed and just would NOT simply send a file to the mac to be sent to the printer. I had never really used a mac until one day I friend of mine showed me hers and I made the decision within an hour to get my Macbook Pro. I have never been happier with my computer. When I had my pc, i can’t remember a single happy computer seession. The pc had a “faster” processor and the same amount of memory, yet it always took at least a couple minutes to stabilize after booting. Another thing that bothered me was all the crap content that came on my pc. I don’t want twelve different installers for AOL (insert any number here.another number here) I dont want some shitty spyware/virus protection that I will have to pay for after a week.

Here is the bottom line. The main reason Mac users don’t have to worry about viruses is because the people who write viruses aren’t smart enough to write them for macs, or are just too poor to buy a mac because they dont have a job because they sit around with their thumbs up their asses all day.

British Mac Head, I want you to be my History professor.

  71. Rotten says:

Mac sucks. Linux is ok but a bitch. And Windows, when properly configured and run by a semi-intelligent person, can be the best os in your arsenal. PC’s are all about speed and performance, if you have half a brain its not hard to make the OS do what you want. I will load any program faster than the best mac on the market. Stability… my computer has been runing for a few weeks now flawlessly. Im sorry mac, but you cannot compete with my hardware. Have fun mac, browsing the web and instant messaging, because in my opinion, thats all you are good for.

  72. Ben says:

Nice try Rotten, but I have had my Macbook Pro on with the screen open for a couple months now with no less than four applications at a time. My applications load instantly, and they install instantly as well. Macs are powerful machines. The reason people’s Macs don’t work is because they don’t update the software like they are supposed to (which should be an automatic process, but people just tell it to wait until later). The reason people like Macs so much is because they are designed intelligently. They work for you. You don’t work for your computer. It’s frustrating to be smarter than the guy who designed your OS. Sure your Windows software engineer can write code, but does he know what people want? Does he know what makes people’s lives easier? Does he even care about those things? No, no, and no. Mac understands that people want a quality product and Windows doesn’t. Period. I used a pc my whole life because my father preferred them, I switched to Mac about a year ago and I haven’t looked back since. Here’s why: with my pc, there was ALWAYS something wrong. It gets old fixing your os every time it decides to tard out. I was not by the way your average Dell user. I built my machines myself. I began to think maybe it was something wrong the way I was doing it. So I bought a Dell. It was crap within a month. Ive had my Mac for over a year and it has had no problems so far and it has only been off a few times. Macs are quality products. You can deny it all you want, but you and I both know that you have never actually given a Mac a chance.

  73. Ben says:

  74. Clem 9000 says:

Great video. I really like how it makes those smug coffee drinking bitchass mac owners angry. They get all riled up because they are dissapointed with the performance of there mac. They get so frustrated with viruses on a pc because they’re too lazy to put up a firewall. Besides, I saw a popup on a mac once. Saying to me, what’s the difference. Besides the fact that macs cost more + can’t play games. “But macs are better for video editing”. I say bullshit. Windows has just as good + more video editing options than a macbook. +Macbook, what a gay and childish name for a computer. It sounds like a toy. Not a real computer.
